Driveway removal and replacement typically takes 2 days. One day to remove the old asphalt and any excavation if needed, re-grade and install gravel brought in. A separate day to re-compact the gravel base as needed and asphalt installation. We encourage and advice NO driving for 3-4 days, NOT including asphalt installation day.
Depending on the base conditions, we will need a few days in between to allow for proper gravel settling and to allow time for village inspection if required. You are encouraged to drive on the existing gravel base as it helps to compact a little further. Please be mindful that aggressive driving may ruin the established grade and may cause inspection to fail.
If you are in an unincorporated area of your town, you usually do not need a permit, but it is always good to check. Most towns require a permit which consists of taking your Plat of Survey to the Village along with our contract. They will have you fill a form to obtain a permit. There is usually a fee when applying which is the homeowner’s responsibility.
When the permit is received, it gives Premier Paving the “OK” to schedule your project. The permit needs to be displayed on a window or anywhere visible to the inspector. Please email the project coordinator with a picture or copy of the permit.
Usually, there are two inspections. The first inspection is scheduled when old driveway and any preparation is done on the first day. Premier Paving will call for the first base inspection. The inspector will come out to ensure that the gravel is to proper grade and compacted correctly.
The second inspection is after the asphalt is installed. This reassures the costumer that the work is being done properly.
Yes, we are fully insured for commercial, municipal, and residential services. All employees carry and are protected by worker’s compensation. A certificate of insurance can be provided upon request.
We have been in business since 2005 and our crews have over 100 years combined experience.
The dirt, rocks or any type of landscaping is not included in the price and an additional charge will incur unless otherwise stated on the contract.
All precautions are taken to insure proper positive pitch away from the house and garage following the natural grade of property. Problematic areas are to be discussed and addressed with homeowner, if applicable.
We prefer to have the garage door open and accessible for small equipment to make it easier to have a smooth transition from the garage to your newly installed driveway. We will need approximately 6-8 feet from your garage door as the asphalt is being installed. Leaving your garage door opener and/or giving Premier Paving the code to the garage is usually what most costumers will do if not home.
During asphalt installation, employees will need a few feet on each side of driveway to properly set and hand tamped the edges. We will try our best to not damage any landscaping and be mindful of surroundings.
ONCE DRIVEWAY IS COMPLETED PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE SAME SPOT ON THE DRIVEWAY, TURN TIRES WHILE STOPPED OR HAVE ANY SHARP OBJECTS ON THE SAME SPOT (I.E. MOTORCYLE KICKSTAND, JACKS, TRAILER JACKS, ETC). IT CAN CAUSE DIVOTS ESPECIALLY IN THE HOT SUMMER MONTHS.
If this occurs, we carry several gauges of wire to re-connect an invisible fence line on site. There is no re-connection fee for this minor fix. Please notify Project coordinator if you have an invisible dog fence.
We would need to know where they are located so they can be marked. Relocation and replacing sprinkler heads are NOT included. We encourage calling your local Sprinkler Co. if there is an extension to the driveway and the sprinkler will be affected. We can coordinate with them.
Yes, for the first two years it is very important to seal coat your driveway. The first time should be approximately 90 days after asphalt installation to insure proper curing time. You will also want to seal the following year. After that, you can seal coat every other year. Asphalt is very porous and if seal coating is not maintained, your driveway will crack and not last as it should
Back fill dirt or any type of landscaping is not included in the pricing because it is not always needed. However, these services can be quoted and provided by our subcontractors or your local landscape Co.
Yes, the asphalt is hand tamped at sidewalks, garages, concrete slabs, curbs, brick pavers, etc. This creates a smooth even transition from each surface to asphalt and avoids tripping hazards. IF SURFACES ARE BELOW OR HIGHER THAN PROPER GRADE, HOMEOWNER WILL BE NOTIFIED PRIOR TO PAVING!
